About this Event
Morris County Historical Society is pleased to partner with local historians and history organizations to present a Morris County Walking Tour Series that celebrates the area’s rich and diverse past . From April through October, join us for nearly 40 guided walking tours that explore almost two dozen communities throughout Morris County, with topics ranging from unique historic districts, downtowns, and neighborhoods to local industries that shaped the landscape, and the individuals who left a lasting impact.
The tour will take us back before the Revolution to the time of the Dutch, Quakers and Native peoples, through the development of a religious community and the establishment of a system of public and religious education. We will visit the pre-Civil War one-room Union Schoolhouse and The late 19th century Union Chapel (if not in use), as well as the outside of some other historic buildings in the area. The tours will start at the historic marker at the building across from 501 Openaki Road.
FREE. Rain/Shine. Space is limited, pre-registration required.
