What is the aim of your event?
The event titled "Black Founders" will be designed to inspire and equip Blackaspiring entrepreneurs living in Manchester to start their own business.Through showing them active examples from a panel of business owners who are actively running their own businesses.
What topics will be covered in the session?
- How the founders started their own business and the previous experience
- How the founders went from Start up to scaling their business
- Discuss any bias or obstacle they might face
What are the event outcomes?
- Encourage members of black community to take start their own business
- Help give start ups encouragement to scale this business
- Create a sense of community and support among young black working professionals
- Provide advice and resources on where aspiring business owners can find funding and advice
The Panel:
Lauren Parchment - Founder of MCR Braids
A private salon studio based in Deansgate, Manchester. Specialising in Knotless Braids that support the health of curly and coily hair.
Chloe - Founder of CurlyGalChlo Salon
IBegan her natural hair journey in 2012, focusing on curly and Afro hair care. Through trial and error, I started a blog to share my experiences. My passion led me to collaborate with 40+ Black-owned curl care brands and launch ODYSSEY BOX UK. Now based in Manchester, she educates others on curly hair care using high-quality plant-based products to bring joy to their experiences.
Miss Kaffo - Founder of Humble Beginnings
Runs an organisation called Humble Beginnings, which is focused on breaking down barriers for working-class groups. This work is built around Entertainment, Education and Events and it seamlessly aligns with her professional life, both driven by a passion for change and innovation.
