About this Event
This workshop is a three-part series, focused on nature-based storytelling through artist expression. Each participant works on a single small painting across all three sessions, inspired by a photograph of a place that holds personal meaning to them. The series moves from finding their source, through the painting process, to reflecting on and telling the story of their place. It ties directly into the QR code storytelling that's central to Carrie's exhibition — a natural through-line for anyone who has seen her Telus Convention Centre display through our Artist in Residence program with Calgary Arts Development.
Participants are invited to bring small found items from nature — things like leaves, feathers, stones, or pressed flowers — to incorporate directly into their painting. It adds a personal, tactile layer to the work and makes each piece truly one of a kind.
This workshop is open to women and gender-diverse folks ages 18+, and offered for free. Refreshments will be provided.
All registrants are asked to register for all three workshops; drop-in after Session 1 will not be accepted.
