About this Event
Through story, song, and shared language, brings together community, artists, and Elders in an evening of listening and connection.
Developed in partnership with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre and ICA, this ongoing initiative explores the translation of operatic works into Indigenous & global languages, guided by relationship, respect, and reciprocity. Each piece reflects not only the words themselves, but the cultural knowledge, lived experience, and meaning shaped through collaboration with Elders.
Featuring newly translated songs, alongside reflections from participants and community voices, this gathering offers an opportunity to experience music in a new way—one that honours language, deepens understanding, and invites us to listen more closely to one another.
