Fort Lowell Day is celebrating the preservation and restoration of the historic buildings of the old fort that are the heart of the Fort Lowell Neighborhood and the Fort Lowell Museum.
Schedule:
10 am: Cannon demonstration by 3rd US Battery A
10 am – 2 pm: Adobe preservation at the hospital ruins
10:30 am: Flag raising ceremony (in front of the hospital ruins)
11 am: Tour of the Archaeology and Preservation by Homer Thiel (Desert Archaeology)
11 am – 1 pm: Way Out West performance
12 pm – 6 pm: Vintage Baseball games at Baseball Field 1
12:30 pm: Tour of Fort Lowell Park – where was the fort? by Dan Morgan (Fort Lowell Museum docent)
1:15 pm: Tour of the Officer Quarters and Commissary by Ken Scoville (Historian)
1:30 pm: 4th Cavalry Regimental Band performance
2:30 pm: Cannon demonstrationby 3rd US Battery A
Members of the public are welcome to participate in adobe preservation activities at the Post Hospital with the assistance of qualified historic preservation specialists with experience in Southwestern Earthen Architecture. These activities will include the application of mud to exposed adobe walls to stabilize them and protect them from weathering.
