Welcome to our private event! Advance reservation is needed (details are at the end of this announcement). I am excited to invite you on an extremely special winter tour of Fort Fisher this February. Dr. Chris E. Fonvielle Jr., the ultimate expert on the Wilmington Campaign, will lead this learning adventure for our group. More on Dr. Fonvielle: https://www.chrisfonvielle.com/
What: CFCWRT walking tour of the new Fort Fisher Visitor Center and grounds.
When: Saturday, February 8, 2025, starting at 4 p.m. Expect our adventure to last approximately 2 hours. On this date at Kure Beach, the sun will set at 5:49 p.m. Let us imagine what living and fighting at the fort must have been like as sunset yields to twilight, then dusk.
Why: The 160th commemorative event will unfold on January 18 during daylight hours. Still, many key developments in the two battles of Fort Fisher took place in the evening and at night. On February 8, Dr. Fonvielle will “take us there” in a much less crowded, yet much more intense way to experience the new Visitor Center and renovated grounds.
***Reserve with Y.B. Howell by sending a message through Facebook Messenger. Spots are $20 ea., payable in advance to Y.B. Howell, President, Cape Fear Civil War Round Table. This is a fundraiser for our nonprofit with all proceeds, less the tour guide's honorarium, going to CFCWRT's programming budget. Payments are non-refundable unless CFCWRT must cancel or reschedule the event to a date that won't work for you. Thank you for your support and understanding!
