Atelier de conduction avec Jo Salas, APTT

Au Théâtre Playback, la personne au poste de conduction endosse des responsabilités qui font appel à un étonnant éventail de compétences. Parfois la conduction s’avère profondément gratifiante — toujours, elle est une singulière source de défis. Durant cette formation, nous explorerons les rôles et tâches spécifiques à cette position. Nous prêterons une attention particulière à la mise en train, à la présence et à l’art de conduire les récits avec élégance et efficacité. Comment la personne qui conduit peut-elle établir une atmosphère de confiance et le désir de s’impliquer ? Comment faisons-nous pour maintenir le contact avec le public au moment où nous sommes en conversation avec un narrateur ? De quelles options disposons-nous lorsqu’une histoire présente le risque d’être trop dérangeante pour autrui ? Qu’est-ce que l’« arc du spectacle » et comment nous y prendre pour le construire ?
Que vous soyez débutant.e.s ou chevronné.e.s dans ce rôle, toutes et tous auront l’occasion de mettre en pratique leurs talents, ainsi que de raconter leurs histoires et de jouer
sur scène les histoires de leurs co-stagiaires.
Prérequis : La formation de base (core training) ou au moins six mois d’implication dans une troupe de Playback en activité.
La formatrice
Jo Salas est la cofondatrice du Playback Theatre et la fondatrice du Hudson River Playback Theatre, troupe active depuis 1990. Jo a dirigé des ateliers de Théâtre Playback dans 30 pays, souvent pour le compte du Centre for Playback Theatre. Sur le Théâtre Playback, elle a publié de nombreux articles, prononcé une conférence TEDx intitulée « Everyone has a story » (Tout le monde a une histoire) et entre autre publié les ouvrages Improvising Real Life: Personal Story in Playback Theatre (aujourd’hui traduit en 10 langues) et Personal Stories in Public Spaces: Essays
on Playback Theatre by Its Founders, cosigné avec Jonathan Fox. Elle écrit également des fictions, dont, dernièrement, Mrs. Lowe-Porter, roman inspiré de la vie de la traductrice de Thomas Mann.

The conductor in Playback Theatre carries responsibilities that require a surprising range of skills. Conducting can be deeply rewarding—and uniquely challenging. In this training, we’ll explore the conductor’s distinct roles and tasks, paying attention to topics such as warm-up, presence, and conducting stories gracefully and efficiently. How can the conductor create an atmosphere of trust and eagerness to engage? How do we maintain contact with the audience when we’re in conversation with a teller? What choices do we have when a story is potentially disturbing to others? What is the “arc of the show” and how do we build it?
Whether a beginner or an experienced conductor, everyone will have chances to practice conducting, as well as telling and acting stories.
Pre-requisite:
Core Training, or at least six months in an active Playback company.
Trainer
Jo Salas is the cofounder of Playback Theatre and the founder of Hudson River Playback Theatre, active since 1990. Jo has led Playback Theatre workshops in 30 countries, often for the Centre for Playback Theatre. Her publications on Playback Theatre include numerous articles, a TEDx talk “Everyone has a story,” and the books Improvising Real Life: Personal Story in Playback Theatre (now in 10 translations) and Personal Stories in Public Spaces: Essays on Playback Theatre by Its Founders, co-authored with Jonathan Fox. She also writes fiction, including the recent novel Mrs. Lowe-Porter, based on the life of Thomas Mann’s translator.
