Form with Line, Colour & Space

Led by Larisse Hall.
In this workshop; line, colour and negative space will be used to create 3-Dimensional form!
'How?' You may ask!
Using historic artist works as examples and demonstrating 'reverse' form creating techniques, old recovered 'finds', ranging from plastics through to electrical wiring and textiles, will be used as material to create form from. Upcycling existing into new aesthetically pleasing form's.
The focus will be on the use of 'line' and 'colour' to create the feel of solid form, celebrating and using negative space as an essential element within each finished 'object'.
With some parts of said finished object being made 'solid' using only 'line' for form. Come, allow your artist self the freedom to discover an alternative sculpting technique.
An international award-winning artist living in Nelson, New Zealand, Larisse Hall combines traditional techniques of painting and form with the science and colour of infused physical light to produce works of art that live and breathe, transforming over time. Her work acknowledging time as our most precious commodity.
Larisse's painting practice has developed significantly since 2008, when she left her position in the fashion industry to pursue her art practice full time. Never fully separating her two worlds; they are now intrinsically intertwined, each feeding and enriching the other.
Once asked to separate her artist self from her creative being, she realized that each inspires the other and together they make her whole.
Environmentally aware, her art and classes encourage sustainability. This, combined with her organic approach to her garden and life, supports the whakatauki:
'Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua'
'Care for the land, care for the people, so we may go forward'
