About this Event
Forest Walk in Doon Heritage Village
Step beyond the garden gate and into a living landscape filled with flavour, fragrance, and forgotten knowledge.
Join us for a guided Gardens & Foraging Walk presented by Bob Wildfong through the heritage gardens and surrounding natural areas of Doon Heritage Village. Discover what’s growing at your feet and overhead — from cultivated heirloom plants to wild edibles and useful native species that have sustained communities for generations.
With Bob’s deep knowledge of seed saving, sustainable growing, and local food systems, you’ll learn how to identify seasonal plants, explore traditional and modern uses for herbs and wild foods, and gain practical tips for ethical, responsible foraging. Along the way, we’ll talk about pollinators, soil health, biodiversity, and how gardens and wild spaces work together to create thriving ecosystems.
This isn’t just a walk — it’s an invitation to slow down, look closely, and reconnect with the land in a meaningful way. Bring your curiosity and your questions.
Meet at Guest Services at 10:00 a.m.
Our guides and museum staff will welcome you and get you checked in. The walk will last approximately 1.5–2 hours.
Whether you’re a gardener, an aspiring forager, or simply looking for a peaceful and enriching morning outdoors, this experience offers a fresh way to see — and taste — the landscape around you.
