Join us at Finch Arboretum for the Inland Northwest's largest plein air (outdoor painting) art festival! On May 16th, from 10am-4pm, dozens of professional artists will set up their easels and draw inspiration from the nature around them. Attendees will be given a map and encouraged to wander through the arboretum, watch the artists' creative processes unfold, talk with them about their techniques, and discover how nature inspires each piece.
This free, family-friendly event will also feature:
Kids Craft Area – The outdoor early childhood education center, Greenplay Northwest, will host a variety of crafts. Former projects have included painted rocks, floral bookmarks, flags, and more.
Art Market – Visit our on-site art market to purchase a souvenir from your favorite artist.
Nature-Inspired Art & Education – Roughly a dozen local non-profits will host additional art activities and talk about their work.
Food & Drinks – Grab lunch from Feast World Kitchen or a snack or drink from one of our other vendors
After the event, all of the artwork will be displayed for a week and a half in the Spokane Art School, before being auctioned off online. The auction's proceeds will be split between the artists and Spokane Art School's efforts to support the local art community and provide quality art education to all, regardless of financial barriers or other limitations.
We hope you'll join us to get some fresh air, interact with the local art and environmental communities, and celebrate art's deep roots in nature.
