About Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku):
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku, is a Japanese practice of immersing oneself in nature through slow, intentional walking and mindful awareness of the environment. It’s not just a walk—it’s an opportunity to engage your senses—sights, sounds, smells, and even textures—to form a deeper connection with the natural world. The practice encourages slowing down, breathing deeply, and experiencing the calming power of nature.
The Benefits of Forest Bathing:
Stress Reduction: Spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels and promote relaxation.
Improved Mood: Nature has been linked to reduced anxiety, depression, and mental fatigue.
Enhanced Immune Function: Exposure to nature boosts immune system function and overall health.
Mental Clarity & Focus: Disconnecting from daily distractions helps improve focus, creativity, and cognitive function.
Connection to Nature: Foster a deeper, reciprocal relationship between humans and the environment.
Forest Guides:
Therapists Kathryn Dietzway, LCSW, Amber Dugas, PLPC, Lauren Cordell, PLPC, and Lauren LaHaye, PLPC will guide you on this mindful journey. We’ll provide invitations to help you connect to mind, body, and Earth in a way that feels right for you.
What to Expect:
This walk will be on a wood-paved trail, but please be aware of uneven surfaces and the presence of insects, plants, and wildlife. For comfort and safety, wear pants that cover your ankles, sturdy shoes, and bring water and bug spray.
Please refrain from using mind-altering substances to ensure a safe and enriching experience for all.
We look forward to sharing this calming, nature-connected journey with you!
