About this Event
Feeling overwhelmed? Burnt out from chronic reactivity and doing-doing-doing? The Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is the simple and therapeutic act of spending time in a forest. "Shinrin-yoku" or "taking in the forest atmosphere" was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Studies have shown that time in nature is an antidote for stress and anxiety. It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood. guided immersion experience moves us slowly through the park, offering a series of sensory invitations to simply be, in the moment.
During this calming experience, we will practice easy techniques to help you regulate your nervous system. Find out how this outdoor experience can increase your physical and mental resilience.
Forest Bathing is lead by Mileva Huljev, who holds a Guide certification through the Association for Nature & Forest Therapy (ANFT) and believes that this practice offers a pathway to remember how to immerse yourself in nature; to rest from the stressors of daily life. Also, Forest Bathing is more than just 'going for a walk'. It is an opportunity to slow down physically and mentally, through a series of guided invitations using your senses. These experiences increase individual wellbeing and lead to a deeper appreciation for our planet’s land and waterways.
