About this Event
Mary’s new work "Speak Her Name" is another work of creative nonfiction, a memoir focused on personal stories and investigations into violent crimes against women from her 25 years in forensic pathology, including her role as the first female Chief Medical Examiner in Central New York. Experiencing motherhood in juxtaposition with her job provided constant reminders of her two lives: one with the living, and one with the dead. Such high-profile cases as Leslie Neulander, Carol Ryan, and April Gregory highlight the reality of our society and its treatment of women—and the enduring power of our voices to effect change.
