Robin Greenfield presents: Foraging 100% of my food for a year.
About this Event

Description: For one year Robin Greenfield is foraging every bite of his food and medicine. A year without grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies or even a garden. “Nature” is his garden! Is it possible to eat in harmony with Earth and live in reciprocity? Robin wholeheartedly believes so and is putting this love and devotion for Earth into bold action as he harvests the food and medicine that is growing freely and abundantly all around us. All information for Robin's Foraging Year and Tour can be found at http://www.robingreenfield.org/foragingyear

What to expect: Learn how to safely and sustainably forage the common edible and medicinal plants that most of us pass by daily without ever knowing!

Rob will introduce you to:

- Ten or more common edible and medicinal plants growing in your area

- How to safely forage

- How to harvest sustainably and be an ally to the plants

- Simple strategies for successful foraging and plant identification.

All are welcome, regardless of experience. Experienced foragers can come to learn more or to connect with other foragers in the area! Bring as many friends as you’d like and feel free to record.

Program leader: Your guide will be Robin Greenfield.

Where to meet: Find Robin and Ranger Jonah at the South Peachtree Creek trailhead near the Mason Mill Tennis Center (McConnell Dr & Mason Mill Rd).

What to bring: Wear appropriate closed-toe footwear, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle and hiking sticks if you need them. We will be standing and walking at a gentle pace for 1.5 hours, on varied terrain with some slopes.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for adults and older children, but all are welcome. Bring as many friends as you'd like.

Dogs: This program is NOT appropriate for dogs, so please leave your pup at home.

Weather contingency: This program will be held, rain or shine, unless conditions are dangerous.

Walking distance: 1.5 miles

Exposure: This walk is mostly under shaded tree canopy.

Trail surface & accessibility: This program follows a combination of single-track dirt trails and durable surfaces (concrete & boardwalk) and is not accessible for chair users or strollers. The dirt trails are less than 3 feet wide and have roots and rocks. Some trails are steep. Consider bringing hiking poles if your balance requires them.
