This month's bird: the Cuckoo
The Cuckoo has long been a symbol of fate, transformation, and mystery in folklore across different cultures. Often associated with deception, unfulfilled longing, and messages from the spirit world, the cuckoo’s distinct call has inspired countless myths that reflect both admiration and superstition. Show up to create an inspired work on the spot, or bring your poetry, art, soulful creations and stories that center around what the Cuckoo means to you and your culture and ancestry, how she's inspired your own expression of the energy she holds. We'll learn from one another how the Cuckoo has been revered or feared across the world.
FOR THE BIRDS! Blending poetry, music, and storytelling, FOR THE BIRDS! is a monthly event empowering women to explore the healing potential of collective authentic expression. Where art is medicine. Less about performance, more about permission.
Expect an evening of permission-giving, creative expression, prayerformance and community to celebrate the voice and power of the full-spectrum feminine. Hosted by freestyle poet and body whisperer Dr. Elizabeth Love, this is an emergent variety show for you, by you.
We'll begin with a soul-stirring introduction and spoken word, followed by a moment to drop into the body. After the featured artists' performances, the mic is open! This is a place for you to share your voice and be witnessed in your expression.
First half: Enjoy the performances or share your art inspired by the bird of the month
Second half: The stage is open for the more sensual and shadowy expressions inspired by the bird of the month.
Open mic'ers have 5 minutes.
You'll absolutely fall in love with everyone who vulnerably takes the stage, which may inspire you to share your own story or ignite a deeper creative process. By the end of the evening, we'll have a new perspective on the part of us that resonates with the muse of the month.
There will be powerful words of wisdom shared alongside light-hearted stories. You'll have an opportunity to share your story through poetry, song, storytelling, comedy, burlesque - or ..however art moves through you.

FOR THE BIRDS! is a dedicated space for women to express, create, and connect in an environment that centers and protects their voices and experiences. While we deeply appreciate your interest and support, and we kindly ask those who identify as men to reach out to learn of other events that may support your creative embodiment.
This event is LGBTQIA+ friendly and welcomes those seeking to cultivate their full-spectrum feminine voice through creative alchemy. We welcome those who feel resonant with the intention of the space and are excited to amplify and express their creative feminine embodiment. Mamas, feel free to bring your babies (be mindful that adult themes may arise in artists' performances.)
