A Space for Rest & Recharge for Queer & Trans ArtistsOff-Grid | Off-Line | Laurentians, Québec
A one-week residency for queer and trans artists who need space — to make work, to rest, or simply be. No pressure to produce. Come with a project or come to rest.
This location is on the unceded territories of the Kanienʼkehá:ka, Anishinabewaki, and Omàmìwininìwag peoples.
Dates: One week, flexible scheduling between May and late September 2026
Deadline to apply: April 1, 2026
Location: A rustic two story off-grid old cabin
Who This Is For
All disciplines welcome — writers, musicians, visual artists, performers, dancers, filmmakers, and those working in ritual, garden, or land-based practices. This residency is particularly oriented toward artists who are exhausted and need time to slow down. QTBIPOC artists and trans femmes are especially encouraged to apply.
The Space
The cabin is best suited for two artists. Bring a collaborator, a friend, or a partner — or apply solo if you know you could be content alone in deep forest mountains.
-Rustic two-bedroom cabin with a wood stove
-No electricity or running water
-Potable water provided
-A lake nearby with turtles, beavers, deer, turkeys, and birds
-A swimmable lake a 10-minute drive away
-Deep quiet, trees, stars
-Disconnection from screens, wifi, and limited cell signal
-A car is strongly recommended given the remote location
-Strong cyclists have made it work but it's hilly
What's Expected of You
Not much! Bring your groceries (the residency is self-catered), bring what you need to make work or rest, and take good care of the space. Light support from collective members is available if you need it.
A Note on Funding
This is a new residency and we're still building toward non-profit funding. If you're able, a contribution of $50–$200 for the week helps cover firewood and basic supplies.
How to Apply
Send the following to [email protected] by April 1, 2026:
1. A short statement about your intentions for the residency
2. An artist CV and/or links to your website or social media
Due to limited capacity, we'll only be in touch with successful applicants. If this round doesn't work — we encourage you to apply again.
