For Mathew Davies

As you know, our friend, Mat Davies passed away a couple of weeks ago after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Today 7th Sept would have been his 50th birthday. Mat touched many of our lives by simply being him. He was a big and respected voice in the UK music world, publishing articles and reviews in many leading publications over the years. He was also one of the best HR practitioners we knew, a true people person, who got the best out of those that worked with him or simply spent time socially with him.

Many of us met Mat at one HR TweetUps at some point, Mat was the organiser of a few of these. Others met him at a gig or festival along the way. It therefore seems fitting that we hold a similar event, at which we'll raise a glass and share a story or two, remembering him well.

After a bit of searching we have secured the First Class Lounge, a private function room at The Parcel Yard pub in Kings Cross Station, a venue that Mat also booked for at least one of the TweetUps and was oft used as a gathering point for pre-gig drinks.

We will be setting up a tab at the bar and organising food for those that wish to feed, therefore we do ask for a contribution to meet the costs. As we try to be fair to everyone attending, those who only want a tonic water or those that want to pour themselves home at the end of the night we have created tickets at different prices to allow you to chose the level of contribution you wish to make. All money collected for tickets will be used to pay for the evening. Any money left over will be donated to St Christopher's Hospice in Beckenham. They looked after Mat so well and treated him like royalty for a couple of months.
