Football Tournament - Fundraiser for Free to Be Kids
Why are we fundraising for Free to Be?
Every young person deserves a childhood filled with love, joy and adventure, but sadly, for many the reality is the stark opposite. Poverty, trauma and other adversities overshadow experiences and change the way children think about the world and their place in it. All of the children referred to Free to Be are from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds, including living with parents with addiction or mental health difficulties, facing homelessness, acting as young carers or living in poverty.
Free to Be's residentials, mentoring and youth leadership programmes seek to help young people redefine themselves to see their own worth, talents and potential with outdoor activities and a network of dedicated staff and volunteers. So what can we do about it?
Some of us have been working with Free to Be for almost five years, and we decided it was time to do more to spread the word about what they do, and hopefully fund some therapeautic programmes for young people in need. We also love community football, so please do come join us for a fun-filled day of mixed gender five-a-side football at Haggerston School Football Pitches. Whether you're a seasoned pro, love a casual kickabout, or have never played before this event is for everyone.
Date: Sunday 28th July, 2-4pm
Tickets: One donation = one ticket, all proceeds go to Free to Be Kids
Suggested donation = £15. No one will be refused entry for lack of funds.
Teams will be assigned closer to the time - check your emails the week of the event for your colour!
