ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr Mandy Zhang
Dr Mandy Zhang is a consultant at Singapore Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre @ Changi General Hospital (SSMC@CGH). She obtained post-graduate qualifications from the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), Masters of Family Medicine (Singapore), Masters of Sports Medicine (Australia), FIFA diploma in football medicine and is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore. She chairs the Performing Arts Medicine Special Interest Group under Sports Medicine Association Singapore (SMAS), is the dance lead for the Performing Arts Medicine Clinic at SSMC@Novena, and Deputy Director for Education for Exercise is Medicine Singapore (EIMS), an affiliate of the American College of Sports Medicine. Her clinical interests include sports injury prevention, musculoskeletal sonography and performing arts medicine.
Dr Charles Kon
Dr Charles Kon graduated from the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom), underwent his orthopaedic training in Singapore and did a foot and ankle attachment at the St. Mary’s Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul. He specialises in foot and ankle surgeries ranging from joint preservation to foot and ankle reconstructive surgeries. In particular, he has a special interest in minimally invasive surgeries. Dr Kon has a keen interest in research especially in foot and ankle conditions. In 2016, he was awarded the Changi General Hospital (CGH) research grant looking into the treatment of plantar fasciitis, and in 2019, he was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) on diabetic foot preservation and foot deformity correction with minimally invasive techniques in Bordeaux (France).
Dr Kinjal Mehta
Dr Kinjal Mehta is a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon and Director of the Foot & Ankle Service in Changi General Hospital (CGH). She graduated from National University of Singapore and did her orthopaedic surgery training in Singapore. Dr Kinjal underwent foot and ankle fellowship training under Dr Mark Glazerbrook in Canada in 2015. Dr Kinjal specialises in treating foot and ankle sports injuries, fractures, ankle instability as well as reconstruction of deformities such as bunions, hammertoes, flatfeet, high arched feet and Charcot feet.
She has presented her research nationally and internationally and has published publications in her name. She is also active in teaching and regularly organises foot and ankle courses.
Tam Chi Kong
Mr Tam Chi Kong completed his degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 2016 with First Class Honors. As the service lead for Foot and Ankle the Department of Rehabilitative Services in Changi General Hospital, his interest is in post-operative rehabilitation of patients with the Brostrum-Gould procedure and works collaboratively with his patients towards achieving their return to sports goals.
Over the years, Chi Kong has gained experienced in managing active on-field injuries and works with athletes in injury prevention and performance enhancement as part of his role as the Team Physiotherapist for the Singapore National Water Polo team (Men). His field experience include water polo, wakeboarding, archery and gold, and he was a physiotherapist at the 2019 SEA Games (Philippines). As a school athlete himself, he played volleyball and badminton during his school years, and currently keeps active by running and swimming regularly.
