🔥 FOOLS to the Roof!
Truck Company Operations & Vertical Ventilation
Join the South Florida FOOLS for our annual April FOOLS firefighter training event hosted at the Hollywood Fire Training Academy on April 3rd, 2026.
This hands-on, skill-intensive class is designed for firefighters who want to sharpen their truck company operations, vertical ventilation, and saw work in realistic fireground environments.
Participants will rotate through practical skill stations and scenario-based evolutions focusing on:
- Flat and pitched roof ventilation
- Residential roof construction and hazard recognition
- Ground ladder and roof ladder operations
- Rotary saw (K-12) and chainsaw techniques for ventilation
- Forcible entry coordination with ventilation
- Water can application to knock back fire prior to interior operations
This training emphasizes:
✔ Safe roof operations
✔ Proper cut placement and inspection holes
✔ Tool discipline and saw handling
✔ Communication between roof and interior crews
✔ Real-world fireground decision making
✔ Coordinated truck work to support fire attack and survivability
Firefighters will gain valuable experience cutting flat and pitched residential roofs, performing coordinated forcible entry, and operating under realistic conditions designed to mirror today’s fireground challenges.
This event is proudly hosted by the South Florida FOOLS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit firefighter organization dedicated to aggressive training, firefighter development, and supporting the next generation of firefighters.
