Discover how ‘Food as Medicine’ applies daily, maximizing nutrients and benefits from everyday ingredients!
About this Event

To encourage cross-cultural exchange through food, Tung Wah College and Inter Cultural Education are co-organizing a “Food as Medicine: A Traditional Chinese Medicine Workshop”. This event, conducted in English and open to all, warmly welcomes participants from every background — including Hong Kong’s ethnic minority communities who may be curious about Chinese medicine and would like to explore new ways of practicing a healthier diet. Together, we will explore the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine, fostering mutual understanding and a stronger sense of community across cultures.

The workshop features a talk and a Five Flavors Tasting activity. The talk will introduce the basic theories of TCM, principles of nourishment and balance, and how food therapy can be applied in everyday life. Participants will also join a Five Flavors Tasting activity, sampling wellness teas that each represent one of the five key flavors in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory — sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty. Through this sensory experience, participants will discover how the concept of “Food as Medicine” can be practiced day to day, learning ways to draw out the greatest benefits and nutrients from the ingredients we use in our daily meals.
