Join us to plant in a week and enjoy a snack and cuppa afterwards.We’ll be planting and watering some tough grasses (dianella, lomandera etc.) on the riverbank. As the weather warms up for spring, these plants are hardy and should thrive easily.
The site is about 100 meters outside the boundary of Newells Paddock, near the Heavenly Queen Temple and will help to expand the habitat of Newells Paddock. Some holes will be pre-dug, so you can enjoy planting the tube stock.
We will meet at the NP BBQ, then walk around to the site, work for an hour or so, then come back for afternoon tea at the BBQ shelter. We'll mark the path out for any late-comers.
All ages and abilities are welcome. We'll have some biscuits and tea/coffee afterwards too.
Please:
* bring gloves and tools, if you have them (some provided)
* wear weather protection.
* BYO water
* Be aware of the water's edge and supervise children at all times.
* Sign in at the BBQ shelter (or the planting trailer if you're late).
* If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and we'll see you next time.
Access from Jamieson Ave, Footscray or Ride/walk from the Maribyrnong River Trail, near city train line (follow the signs).
RSVP is appreciated for event planning via email or Facebook. (When we have lots of RSVPs, we'll plan for some extra activities)
