About this Event
Friday night, April 10 (6pm-10pm) and Saturday, April 11 (9am-10pm)
The Followership Summit is the Curian Network's annual gathering of theological migrants, forward-thinking faith leaders, and anyone reimagining what it means to lead with love rather than coercion. This is about acknowledging the power dynamics that have shaped us, transcending and including them, and building something new—something rooted in uncontrolling love.
We're gathering in-person and online* because the conversation is important. Because proximity creates possibility. Because theological migration is lonely, and you need to know you're not alone. This summit is for pastors, chaplains, spiritual directors, faith leaders, and anyone navigating life outside traditional structures, while still recognizing the importance of structure itself.
Join us for two days of provocative talks, honest reflection, and real community with:
- Brian McLaren, author and public theologian, reflects on what it means to lead in a time of religious deconstruction and cultural upheaval.
- Keri Ladoucuer (Post Evangelical Collective) will help us navigate the landscape of post-evangelical faith and what it means to build community beyond the institution.
- Thomas Jay Oord, pioneering author and open and relational theologian, explores how uncontrolling love reshapes our understanding of God, power, and leadership.
- Dr. Julia Robinson Moore brings Girardian insights on scapegoating, mimetic rivalry, and how faith communities can transcend cycles of violence and exclusion.
- Rev. Dr. Shaleen Kendrick and Rev. Jill Elizabeth offer neuro-relational wisdom on how our brains, bodies, and relationships shape the way we lead and follow.
Between sessions, you'll connect with like-minded people from across the country—pastors, chaplains, spiritual directors, church planters, and creative types who are building something new. You'll share meals, swap stories, and discover that you're actually part of a much larger movement. Whether you're part of the Curian Network or simply exploring what comes next after leaving constrictive systems, you belong here.
This is for you if:
- You're a pastor, chaplain, or spiritual director navigating faith outside traditional structures
- You've been forced to choose between your credentials and your convictions
- You're planting a church or leading a faith community that doesn't fit denominational boxes
- You're a progressive faith person longing for community with people who get it
- You've given up on the Americanized-evangelical exclusivism, but you know that structure is still important
- You long for community
- And if you're a College Student use the discount code STUDENT to get in for free!
The Curian Network is a new denominational ecosystem that exists to credential and endorse pastors, chaplains, and faith leaders who no longer fit within constrictive systems. We provide ordination, chaplaincy endorsement, mental health support, resources, and a community committed to moving the world forward in love.
The Followership Summit is where we gather—Curian members and progressive faith leaders alike—to remember why this work matters and who we're doing it for.
Care without control. Community without conformity. Leadership without coercion.
