Hosts PAPER SPARROWS wrap up another busy year with their annual festive show, having played prestigious events like the Cambridge Folk Festival, Folk East, and Glasgow Americana. The roots folk/Americana trio come "highly recommended" from Celtic Connections, and are described as "folk legends" by the Assembly Festival! RnR Magazine said “The epithet ‘debut album’ belies the depth of skill and experience hidden behind the members of the band". The band's sound centres on their distinctive twin-acoustic guitar style, finger-picking, harmonies and double bass. Arrangements draw upon 60s folk-revivalists such as Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Dylan and Donovan up to contemporary acts like Dave Rawlings, Kris Drever and the Milk Carton Kids.
Shetlander MALACHY TALLACK is a multi-award-winning artist, celebrated for his talents as both a singer-songwriter and an author. He has released four albums, with his latest, "That Beautiful Atlantic Waltz," serving as a companion piece to his recent book of the same name. Malachy's literary works and music are deeply influenced by his fascination with the relationship between people and places. His musical style spans country, bluegrass, and Americana, showcasing his versatility and deep connection to his roots.
JANE FRANCES masterfully blends the wild and serene in her psych-pop, nature-infused 70s folk sound. Her music offers a refreshing alternative folk experience. Debut album, "Graceful Wanderer," features alt-folk songs with subtle psychedelia and ethereal storytelling. Hailed by BBC6 Music’s Cerys Matthews, Jane's music captivates with its unique blend of genres and storytelling. Jane is backed by Folksville favourite, guitar virtuoso Keith Douglas.
Trio SCOTT CURLEY ALLAN’S evocative contemporary folk music is delivered with sweet and beautiful harmonies. Hailing from different corners of Scotland, it's a real delight to have them all together here at Folksville. The group features Keith Scott on banjo, guitar, and vocals; Michael Curley on guitar and vocals; and Keith Allan on fiddle and vocals. Their combined talents create a rich, harmonious sound that captivates audiences and showcases the best of modern folk music.
Songwriter, composer, and arranger CARO BRIDGES is described as “sweet, dark, and earthy with a bit of crunch.” Her music blends indie, jazz, and folk influences to create original and relatable songs. In addition to leading various musical projects like Caro Bridges & The River, The Enharmonic Collective, and Machine Orchid, Caro works as a choir leader and community musician, promoting fun and healthy music-making for everyone. She was one of the very first performers at Folksville 10 years ago in the cozy Waverley Bar and has remained a cherished friend of the club ever since!
