The magic of the Appalachian region often overlaps with healing practices and folklore. In fact, in many cases witches and magical practitioners were (and still are) consulted for help with illness and injury in addition to help with matters of love, luck, and more spiritual matters. In this class we will explore some of the medicinal plants native to Appalachia and how they are used. We will look at how these folk remedies intersect with magical practice, as well as the various reasons folk medicine has flourished in the region and still continues to be respected.
