About this Event
Explore one of the world’s most resilient and approachable folk arts.
Paper-cutting is a tradition nearly as old as paper itself. From Polish wycinanki to Mexican papel picado, almost every culture on earth has used scissors and paper to tell their story. These intricate designs can serve as vibrant home decor and frameable art, or be utilized in custom greeting cards and scrapbooks.
Master the art of the cut. Under the personal guidance of award-winning artist and storyteller Randel McGee, participants will explore a curated review of global paper-cutting styles. The session transitions from historical inspiration to technical application, using provided patterns, specialty papers, and precision tools. You will refine your skills to design, cut, and finish a personalized work of art to take home. This workshop is perfect for both children and adults!
Randel McGee is an internationally acclaimed artist, writer, and entertainer with over 45 years of professional experience. A specialist in traditional and cultural paper crafts, his intricate designs have been featured globally in numerous craft and picture books.
