* This is a laid-back folding meeting in a formal room with a grand piano. where everyone can contribute and participate.
* We usually have ready a couple of lovely models to teach and a number of diagrams for people to try out on their own or with help.
* Please do share your experience of origami and see if you could share a model that you know.
* The challenge of the day is to fold a model from the BOS collection at https://www.britishorigami.org/resources/simple-models/.

Accessing our site
By Car - Bootham School is accessible from any of the car parks in Central York, but Bootham Row and Union terrace may be most convenient. Alternatively, you can use the Park and Ride services to the City Centre and take a short walk over the Scarborough bridge or, if you arrive at Rougier street – walk over Lindal bridge, then take a stroll through Museum gardens. Google maps can be really helpful if you set your destination to 45 Bootham , YO30 7BT.
On foot - walk down Bootham, just beyond Wandesford House and Photographic lane. The front door will be open between 13:20 – 13:50 and signs will direct you to the first floor of the building and the Recital room.
Food and Drink
Complimentary teas, coffees and biscuits will be available to enjoy with care for the room and furniture. Please let us know if you have any special requirements and we will try to meet these accordingly.
This is a nut-free environment. We would ask that food and drink not be brought in without prior notice in case of severe allergies and intolerances. Thank you very much for your support with this!
Housekeeping
Arrival is between 1:30and 1:45pm. After that, the door will be closed, and you may have to miss the workshop if you are late to arrive. Please note that there is no doorbell for the Recital room - the existing one is for a private flats upstairs. The workshop starts at 1:45pm. There will be informal breaks throughout with access to refreshments and the bathrooms on site. We expect the workshop to finish by 4:30pm, but you are welcome to leave earlier if you have other commitments.
Fire Regulations will be explained before the workshop begins.
Tickets and spaces
This is a small event, with limited space and number of tickets. As there can be last minute bookings and since the spaces usually book well in advance, please do update your booking or get in touch to let us know if things have changed and you may need to return one or more of your tickets. This will also help us make sure that we have the right refreshments and avoid waste.
Origami books, paper and tools
These can be bought from a variety of sources, but you will never go wrong with the supplies from the British Origami Shop at https://www.britishorigami.org/our-shop/. A list of other reliable suppliers is available at https://www.happyfolding.com/shops.
Small quantities of suitable paper will be provided if you cannot find the materials you like.
