Hoople Creek Annual Kayak Run We are looking for a few volunteers who are willing to explore the winding beauty of Hoople Creek — from gentle currents and the occasional quick-water stretch to quiet, scenic sections surrounded by nature.
Join the Friends of Hoople Creek Society for our annual paddle through one of South Stormont’s hidden gems!
This event is more than just a paddle — it plays an important role in helping us identify obstructions and environmental concerns along the creek. Observations from participants help guide future clean-up efforts to ensure safe passage for spawning fish and continued health of the waterway.
 Date: April 11
 Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Launch Location: County Road 18 – Hoople Creek Bridge – we have two volunteers with trailers willing to transport your kayak to the launch location which will allow you to float down the creek to your parked car at Shaver Road bridge.
 What You’ll Experience:
• An engaging paddle along the creek’s natural channels
You might encounter some obstructions like downed trees so be prepared to portage.
You are kayaking/canoeing at your own risk
• Shallow runs, gentle bends, and some faster-moving sections
• Opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy early-season scenery
• A fun, welcoming group of local paddlers
 After the Paddle:
Join us at the Shaver Road bridge and share your photographs of any environmental concerns, wildlife, birds etc.
 Participant Info:
• All skill levels welcome — participants should be reasonably agile
• Bring your own kayak or canoe and a life jacket (required)
• Dress appropriately for water and weather conditions
