February is Black History Month, and we invite you to join us for a special Poetic Sauna session celebrating the voices, stories, and legacies of Black and other minoritized women. This month, we are incorporating slam poetry and encouraging participants to share readings of texts by female minority authors.
Our book of the month is Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, a powerful critique of mainstream feminism that highlights the necessity of intersectionality in the fight for justice.
📖 What to Expect:
This Poetic Sauna is a celebration of literature, poetry, and storytelling by and for minoritized women. In the soothing heat of Laugaren Sauna, we will gather for an hour of readings, reflections, and shared experiences. Whether you come to read, listen, or simply immerse yourself in the warmth of words, this is a space for connection, healing, and community.
🎤 Want to Share Something?
We invite you to bring a short poem, excerpt, or personal reflection from a Black female author or any female minority writer whose words have moved you. If you prefer to listen, that’s perfectly fine too—just come as you are and enjoy the stories unfolding in the steam.
