About this Event
Cate Clifford is a typically unaccompanied singer based in Rhode Island. She has raised rafters and cracked hearts in homes, venues, festivals, and recording studios on both coasts of the USA. Using a ballad that chronicles a true crime committed in North Carolina, we’ll explore the history and basics of broadside ballads, the subgenre of execution ballads (aka “good-nights”), and what they tell us about crimes and criminals of the past. Participants will receive a list of broadside ballad archives to explore, to aid in post-workshop song-hunting. Manhattan address provided on registration (Masks required). Information: 347-467-6720.
The concert is at a private home in Manhattan's Lower East Side; details will be sent when you sign up. Suggested contribution: $75 general public; $50 FMSNY members. Information: 347-467-6720.
