In a very special season where First Music brings the musical world of its umbrella organization to you, our concert audience: join Artistic Director Joseph R. Olefirowicz– a renown conductor on the international concert and theatre stage- as he leads an ambitious symphonic program featuring two masterworks in chamber orchestra format. The Boston region’s top symphonic artists come together for this special afternoon program.
The monumental Igor Stravinsky L’Histoire du Soldat (Tale of a Soldier from 1918) fills the first half of the program with a concert version of its haunting musical tale, telling a soldier’s story of temptation and tragedy in the throes of World War I.
In the second half of the program, the iconic American ballet classic: Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring is offered in its chamber orchestra concert version. This beloved work is especially treasured by American audiences and is beloved worldwide for its American symphonic voice, championed by the collaboration of Copland with legendary choreographer Martha Graham.
