Fly Fishing Opening Day
Saturday, April 4, 2026 | Starting at 12 PM
Join us at Catskill Brewery as we celebrate Fly Fishing Opening Day in Livingston Manor—right at the Gateway to the Catskills. We’re marking the occasion with a full day of hands-on experiences, live music, and great food.
Kick things off with the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, who will be on-site offering free fly tying lessons from 12–3 PM. Whether you’re brand new or looking to refine your technique, no experience or equipment is needed—just stop by and give it a try.
From 3–6 PM, enjoy live music from Mike Brown, a Grammy-nominated musician with deep Catskills roots. Expect a mix of original songs and thoughtfully chosen covers that carry through the afternoon.
Food will be available all day from Just a Taste Caribbean Food Truck, serving up Jamaican soul food favorites like jerk chicken, red snapper, rice & peas, and more.
We’ll also have trout-themed crafts running throughout the day—something for all ages to take part in.
About Mike Brown
Mike Brown is a Grammy-nominated producer, engineer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, as well as the founder of Temperamental Recordings. His work spans an extensive range of collaborations and solo projects, marked by both depth and versatility.
His debut album American Hotel was recorded over eight years across all 50 states and features an expansive list of contributors from across the music world. In addition to his recording career, Brown operates Temperamental Recordings from a restored 1828 Methodist church, a unique space that reflects both history and craft. The studio was featured on American Pickers, where Brown appeared as an expert in musical instruments and vintage recording equipment.
