"School of Sound and Silence"Workshop with Tommy Harevis on learning how to play: Native American Style Flute & Overtone flute.
Breath is transformed into sound through the flute.
Your breath carries information about your state of being and expression, and the flute becomes a tool through which it can be revealed and developed.
Across many traditions, thesound of this instrument has
served a variety of purposes: ritual, entertainment and
healing.
This workshop invites you into a direct, embodied
experience of sound, breath, and awareness.
During the workshop, you will
experience:
- Breathing practices and body posture for playing
ethnic flutes
- The fundamentals of overtone flutes through guided
individual and group practice
- Learning to play Native American Flutes - individual
and group exercises
- Flute philosophy, legends, and the use of flutes in
personal and group work
- 100% cacao & snacks
Flutes will be provided for all
participants. Instruments will
also be available for purchase.
You are warmly invited to bring
your own flute if you have one.
About Tommy Harevis:
Tommy Harevis is a Polish multi-instrumentalist,
traveler and sound practitioner. For over a decade, he
has been studying and working with the cosmovision
and ritual traditions of the indigenous people of
Mesoamerica, guided by tribal elders.
His music blends influences from diverse cultures,
creating immersive and atmospheric soundscapes.
As a performer and educator, he shares the art of
Native American flute playing internationally, weaving
together music and storytelling into a unique, deeply
engaging experience.
