This intensive learning course is action packed and hands on! You’ll work with an instructor in a small class size to gain a fundamental understanding of the instrument, the tools, and supplies. Participants need not have any prior Flute repair experience.We constructed this course to introduce the fundamentals of Flute repair. In this fast-paced experience, we will cover:
Intro to Tools, Anatomy of a Flute, Assembly and Disassembly, Selecting and replacing materials, Pads and padding, Flute Head Cork and replacement, Fitting of Headjoint and Body Tenons, Dent Work, Key fitting (if time allows) and all questions answered!
This spring our flute professor Keren Barr of North Georgia Band will go over all of these great resources this course has to offer! Keren is a professional flute technician and owner of North Georgia Band Instrument Service. She is also a Muramatsu and Straubinger certified flute technician, training with Paul Rabinov and David Straubinger and has also been an active member of NAPBIRT since 2004.
