Film Screening and Post-film Discussion with Director Adelina Borets and UC facultyFlowers of Ukraine, directed by Adelina Borets (Poland/Ukraine)
On a flowery plot of land, in the middle of a block of flats in Kiev lives 67-year-old Natalia. She raises goats and chickens, cultivates a garden, and for years has been fighting against investors who would like to build another property in place of her house. Excavators are common sight in her daily life. Natalia drives them away from her property with the same determination each time. Just when it seems that the fight against developers is the worst thing she faces, the attack of Russia on Ukraine begins.
Followed by a discussion with the director, Teri Jacobs (SEaS) and Michael Gott (SCFMS)
Free admission with RSVP for the UC community.
Sponsored by the Niehoff Center for Film & Media Studies and the School of Environmental Studies and Sustanability
