About this Event
Voice, the sound and the feeling of our own voices, carry not just sound, but emotion and experience. Sometimes, the way we speak, or sing is shaped by things we’ve gone through, and this can affect how confident, strong, or expressive our voices feel. Since these patterns in the voice are learned, they can also be unlearned.
In this workshop, we will explore both speaking and singing in a safe and playful way. We’ll start with your speaking voice, experimenting with how emotion can change the way we communicate. In the afternoon, we’ll move into singing, using images and familiar songs to inspire sound and expression.
During the workshop, there will be no expectations and no judgment. You’ll be offered a supportive space to explore your voice in whatever way feels right for you. You may discover new ways your voice can express and connect—with yourself and with others. Each person can use the playful methods shared in this workshop to explore whatever they wish within their own voice. The effects of the past on our voices can be understood in the present context, allowing us to choose how our voice feels and sounds now. Come along to find freedom in embracing your voice.
