About this Event
Floral Drawing & Watercolours with Liv Askwith
An Afternoon of Still-Life Studies in Watercolour
Join artist Liv Askwith for a relaxed and immersive afternoon exploring floral still life through drawing and watercolour.
In this tutor-led workshop, you’ll work from a thoughtfully arranged floral still life, learning how to translate observation into delicate washes, layered colour, and expressive mark-making. Liv will guide you through the process step by step — from initial sketching and composition to building depth, tone, and softness with watercolour techniques.
Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience, this session offers a supportive space to experiment and develop confidence with water-based media.
You’ll explore:
- Observational drawing as a foundation for painting
- Composition and proportion in still-life studies
- Watercolour techniques including washes, layering, and blending
- Capturing light, tone, and the subtle qualities of petals and foliage
All materials are provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own brushes or sketchbook if you prefer.
Expect a calm, welcoming atmosphere with plenty of guidance and time to develop your own expressive response to the flowers in front of you.
What to bring:
Clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on.
Spend an afternoon slowing down, working with colour, and leaving with your own finished floral watercolour studies.
