~About the guitarists~
Gabriel Cook:
Gabriel started his musical career in Southern Oregon playing jazz trumpet in small combo settings before coming to Portland and discovering Flamenco at Espacio Flamenco. Drawn in by the expressive and dynamic nature of the art form he has since fallen in love with the practice of collaborative improvisation and has continued his studies at Espacio for the past two years.
Ayelet Goldman:
Inspired by a love of listening to Spanish style guitar, Ayelet sought out a local teacher when she was living in Seattle to begin her flamenco journey. Ayelet studied flamenco guitar with Eric Jaeger in Seattle for a year and a half before she moved to Oregon and found Espacio Flamenco in April 2025. Since then, she has studied with Brenna McDonald and taken group classes with Yeshe. Ayelet hopes to continue exploring the different flamenco palos and growing her repertoire. When she’s not attached to her guitar, Ayelet’s current rotation of activities include line dancing, aerial arts, and sport-kite flying.
Kenzo Mendoza:
Kenzo is a flamenco guitarist with over 10 years of experience. Originally from Florida, he studied in Granada, Spain, with masters like José Luis de Paz, Jorge el Pisao, and Luis de la Tota. After performing in a rumba/fusion band in Idaho, he now lives in Portland, continuing his studies at Espacio Flamenco and deepening his connection to this expressive art form.
