About the Artists
We are honored to feature Nino de los Reyes, the first Grammy-winning flamenco dancer, who is donating his time and talent to this event. Nino began his career at the age of nine with the show Campanas Flamencas, directed by Paco Sánchez. In 2010, he won three awards at Madrid’s Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco for his production Origen, including first place in solo choreography, the Flamenco Young Promise award, and Best Musical Composition (by Paco Cruz). Nino has performed in productions such as Beyond the Memory (a tribute to Paco de Lucía) and Flamencos in Berlin alongside some of flamenco’s greatest icons. Today, he continues to expand his repertoire, collaborating with pop and jazz artists and performing on stages like Madrid’s Barclays Center and New York’s Madison Square Garden. Currently, he teaches at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and will be joined by his students and collaborators for this performance.
José Díaz “Cachito”, born into a gypsy family in Barcelona, Spain, is a celebrated flamenco singer following in the footsteps of his father, Mario Díaz. Over his career, he has performed at renowned venues like the Dresden Opera House (Germany), Mont-de-Marsan Festival (France), and the National Auditorium (Mexico). José has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Luis Miguel, Antonio Canales, and Mercedes Amaya. His versatility has enabled him to explore diverse musical fusions, including flamenco opera. Based in Miami, José continues performing and teaching cante y compás flamenco.
José Manuel Alconchel, a renowned flamenco guitarist from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, began his training at age nine, influenced by his father, singer Pepe Alconchel. About the Fundraising
In October, Valencia (Spain) experienced torrential rains and devastating floods. Many schools remain closed, having lost libraries, laboratories, and computer rooms.
Our funds will support two causes:
- 1. Rebuilding Libraries and Schools:
Library of Aldaia (@bibliotecaaldaia) and Library of Catarroja: These libraries were completely devastated. We are collaborating with local bookstore Copies.es to replenish their collections.
L: This school sustained severe structural damage, including a roof collapse that tragically claimed a worker’s life. Students have been relocated to temporary facilities, and we are supporting their needs for books and materials.
: Students have been relocated, and we are working with the program director to provide necessary supplies.
Larrode School (Catarroja, @colegiolarrode): This school has opened a direct donation line for restoring materials and equipment.
Angelets Preschool (Aldaia, @angelets_escuela_infantil): We are fulfilling their IKEA wishlist to help them resume activity as quickly as possible.
- 2. Supporting Aspanion:
Aspanion assists families with children undergoing cancer treatment. They have identified 13 families who lost everything in the floods. Donations will help provide financial assistance and psychological support. Learn more at https://aspanion.es/.
