Learn to correct all kinds of mistakes using many different methods.
Learn common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Students should bring to class two swatches still on the needles. One should be knitted in stockinette stitch and one in garter stitch. (Directions for these are listed below.)
The yarn used to knit these swatches should be worsted weight and shouldn't have too much texture. Extremely fuzzy or bumpy yarn makes seeing the stitches more difficult.
-Directions for stockinette stitch swatch:
Cast on 30 sts.
Row 1: knit across all sts.
Row 2: purl across all sts.
Repeat rows 1&2 until swatch is approximately 4" long. *Do not bind off.
-Directions for garter stitch swatch:
Cast On 30 sts.
Knit all rows until swatch is approximately 4" long. *Do not bind off.
