Join us in celebrating our 5th anniversary at 63, 65, and 67 Wellington Street, Collingwood!

To mark this special milestone, we invite you to an exciting event spanning all three venues on Sunday, 27 October, from 12–6 pm. Enjoy live music, a wine tasting, and a unique opportunity to watch artist Al Poulet painting live on his last day in residence. Complimentary on-site valuations will be available, and Michael will present a session on the taxation of art with Q & A afterwards. A curated exhibition of works by prominent contemporary Australian artists will also be on show.

Art and mathematics would seemingly be at odds with each other, but in Michael Fox’s mind, they are inextricably linked. Would our lives be meaningful and productive without the inspiration of art and music? Can artists sustain a successful career without the help of a good accountant?
Five by three. It could be a formula to work out the tax claim for a performing artist or it could be the measurement of an oil on canvas painting being readied for exhibition or examined for valuation. One controversial musician even suggested you should create five beats a day for three summers to be successful!
In 2019 Michael found the ideal location for his accountancy practice, valuation business, and art gallery. Three distinct spaces with high ceilings and ground floor access in the middle of the Collingwood arts district in an industrial building created by award-winning architect John Wardle.
The restriction of not being allowed to build into the floors and walls was turned into a design advantage by the creation of fifteen movable walls across the three spaces. Unusually for a Melbourne visual art destination, the spaces were unified by 40 metres of glass display frontage, making it almost impossible for a passerby on foot or by car to miss what was on exhibition.
Now, after going through some of the most challenging times in modern Australian history with the pandemic and post-pandemic periods, the three businesses – Michael Fox Arts Accountant, Fox Galleries, and Michael Fox Fine Art - are celebrating five years at Wellington Street, Collingwood.
