About this Event

Heal Not Harm: Exploring Restorative Justice with Dr. Baz Dreisinger

Join us to meet Dr Baz Dreisinger, a justice reform activist and professor from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the United States.

Dr Dreisinger is the Founder and Executive Director of the Incarceration Nations Network. She is the author of the critically acclaimed book Incarceration Nations: A Journey to Justice in Prisons Around the World, founder of John Jay College’s groundbreaking Pr*son-to-College Pipeline program, a 2018 Global Fulbright Scholar and a current Fulbright Scholar Specialist.

Dr Dreisinger’s short film "Heal Not Harm" is the final episode of the ten-part global docuseries Incarceration Nations. "Heal Not Harm" explores restorative justice in Rwanda, the US, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Following the screening, local restorative justice experts Dr David Moore (Australian Association for Restorative Justice), Anita De Blasio (Neighbourhood Justice Centre) and Genevieve Higgins (Jesuit Social Services) will join her in discussion.

This event is a must for anyone interested in how justice can better meet the needs of communities for healing and recovery from crime. Everyone is welcome at this public event. However, space is limited and bookings are essential, so book your spot today.

Light refreshments will be served.

The Australian Association for Restorative Justice and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre thank Collingwood Yards for their generous support for this event.
