About this Event
A symbol of the steadfast American commitment to defending Ukrainian sovereignty, the Solidarity Bell was commissioned by the National Bell Festival and cast entirely from spent munitions, like bullet casings, recovered from the war in Ukraine.
Now the bell will ring – for freedom, for hope, and for truth.
Festivalgoers are invited to enter the Great Choir for a Eucharist to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Name. The service will include a carillon prelude, organ music, and congregational hymns, before the bell is solemnly rung. Following the service, the Washington Ringing Society will attempt a full peal on the Cathedral's 10-bell ring.
