388th Anniversary of the First Muster Birthplace of the National Guard of the United States
Saturday, 12 April 2025 – Salem Common
The Second Corps Cadets Veterans Association and the City of Salem invite you, your families, and your units to attend the historic 388th Anniversary of the First Muster to be conducted on Saturday, 12 April 2025 on the Salem Common (rain or shine)
**Schedule of Events**
8:00 am – Memorial at General Abbott monument - St. Peter’s Church
9:00 am - Ceremony at Armory Park
9:30 am – Parade of units to the Salem Common
10:00 am - Muster Ceremony on Salem Common begins with a U.S.
Army helicopter landing, Air Force flyover, 500 Soldier
Pass in Review, and Cannon Salute. Also on hand will be several static military displays of trucks, cannons, HMMWV’s and military equipment.
For those individuals sensitive to loud noises, you are welcome to utilize the lobby of the police station (located at 95 Margin Street) until the flyover and cannon salute have concluded.
The public should anticipate brief road closures and traffic delays in the areas of Church and St. Peter St., Essex and New Liberty and Hawthorn Blvd., and the Salem Common beginning at 8:00 a.m.
** Free parking/refreshments will be available at O’Donnell’s at 84 Washington Square
