First Manassas Bus TripRVCWRT is sponsoring a bus trip to Manassas Battlefield on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Program features a guided tour of First Manassas sites, box lunch/drink and bus transportation (departure 8 AM, return 6 PM, pickup point Warrenton Rd/Route 17 commuter lot in Stafford County). 1. Henry Hill (Topographical Orientation)
2. Stone Bridge/Farm Ford (Early to Mid-Morning, July 21, 1861)
3. Matthews Hill (Late Morning, July 21, 1861)
12 PM - 1 PM Box Lunch (included in fee) Stuart's Hill: Park Service HQ
1 PM - 5 PM Tour First Manassas Battlefield Sites
4. Stone House (Late Morning, July 21, 1861)
5. Henry Hill (Afternoon, July 21, 1861)
6. Chinn Ridge (Late Afternoon, July 21, 1861)
5 PM – 6 PM Return to Commuter Lot
Note from Tour Guide Marc Thompson: We will be spending most of the afternoon on Henry Hill, which will require a fair amount of walking. I would judge the overall distance to be just a bit under two miles. The terrain is flat and easy to traverse, but a good pair of walking shoes or hiking boots might be a good idea.
In addition to the tour, Marc will provide good quality, spiral bound handouts for use on the tour.
