Join us in the sanctuary Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. for "An Invitation to the Women's Salon" with Mikhail Johnson. As a pianist and composer, Mikhail Johnson, one of Jamaica’s most promising pianists and composers, says he “seeks to create a conduit that allows classical concert music to be more inviting to a public who believes this music is not meant for them.” He enjoys playing less celebrated and virtually unknown work. Spoleto Festival USA noted that Johnson is “a composer who invites us to consider and reframe our sonic sensibilities,” as he interweaves both traditional European music and the innovative with a distinctive Jamaican twist. Johnson is the inaugural Teaching Artist Fellow at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and Lecturer of Composition at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.Free and open to the public, this hour-long concert will be followed by light refreshments.
