About this Event
First Friday closing! Last day to see the show and collect the art!
Main Gallery: Cross Threaded, group exhibition curated by Thayer Bray
Eight artists from around the Kansas CIty Region are brought together in Cross Threaded, a group exhibition centered on the growing presence of textile as a respected medium in the art world. Artists approach the idea of thread in different ways: large knit wall work, freestanding CAD weavings, delicate embroideries, suspended Jacquards, repurposed salvaged quilts, painted and reassembled patchworks, and textile infused assemblages and installations. With this exhibition, KCAC is acknowledging an increasing trend in the Fine Art world of supporting traditionally “non-art” media and showcasing the dynamic, powerful and varied ways artists are entering into the art world dialogue with textiles.
Snap Space: The Sketchbook Project, group exhibition
In the Snap Space Gallery we are presenting our annual Sketchbook Project. In this exhibition, artists show their raw talent and work, as they fill a sketchbook with their thoughts, ideas, finished drawings, crude sketches, experiments, notes, abandoned ideas and side tracks. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to witness the candid creations of artists and writers in the Kansas CIty Region. The Sketchbook Project will be located in our Snap Space Gallery, further emphasizing the personal and intimate nature of the sketchbook.
