Start the new year off by stepping outside, enjoying some fresh air, and joining park staff for an easy hike along the trails of Seven Islands State Birding Park! The hike will be approximately 3 miles and consist of easy to moderate difficulty terrain. The final route of the hike is to be determined depending upon trail conditions at the time of the hike. First Day Hike participants will be able to hike along with Ranger Stephanie and learn about the birds, wildlife, plants, and trees found at the park, as well as the habitat management and projects that are being done or planned in the coming year. This is one of Tennessee State Parks' signature hikes and is a free program, but if you would like to make a donation to the park when you register there is an option for that. Participants should plan on meeting Ranger Stephanie at the Bluebird Barn by the main parking lot at 1:00pm. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the hike, as well as bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. If you have questions regarding this First Day Hike, please contact Ranger Stephanie at [email protected] or 865-333-8270.
