**Pre-registration is required for this program.**Did you know that you don't have to go all the way to Vermont to get fresh maple syrup! Learn how it can be made right here in Tennessee. The first step is identifying your trees and selecting the right sugar maples. Identifying trees in winter, when the leaves are gone, can be tricky. Join Ranger Clare on a hike along the 1 mile Hickory Ridge Trail and learn some tips for how to use bark, buds, twigs, and other clues to identify sugar maples and other common trees in our area. You'll even get a chance to help tap the maple trees that we find.
Dress warmly and come prepared to walk approximately 1 mile along uneven terrain. For more details about the trail, click on our Essential Eligibility Criteria.
The cost of this program is $10.00 per participant. Children under 5 are free with a paying adult. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
Meet at 2:00 PM at the Bluebird Barn.
