About this Event
Fireworks are one of the most exciting — and challenging — subjects to photograph! This year, we’re expanding our annual Fireworks Photography Class into a hands-on experience designed to help you feel confident before the big July 4th celebrations.
The evening begins with a one-hour classroom presentation covering the fundamentals of firework photography, including recommended camera settings, gear suggestions, accessories, composition ideas, and creative techniques for capturing dazzling, artistic images. We’ll walk through how shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focus, and timing all work together to create dramatic long exposure photos.
Then, put those techniques into practice during our new hands-on Outdoor Fireworks Demo & Photo Op! During this guided outdoor session, our expert sales associates will help attendees apply what they learned in real time while experimenting with sparklers, ground fountain fireworks, long exposures, motion effects, and creative light trails. We’ll help you better understand how changing settings impacts your final image and how to manipulate light for unique artistic results. If time allows, we’ll also explore some fun light painting techniques as an added bonus!
Since sunset isn’t until approximately 9:15 PM, we’ll primarily be practicing at dusk, but the techniques and settings you’ll learn will translate directly to nighttime fireworks photography.
Event Schedule:
- 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Classroom Presentation
- 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Class Buffer, Q&A, Gear Exploring
- 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Outdoor Fireworks Demo & Guided Photo Op
We’ve intentionally built in a half-hour break between sessions to allow time for additional attendee questions, schedule flexibility if the class runs slightly over, and the opportunity for attendees to borrow or try select gear before heading outside to shoot.

Yes! Space is limited for both portions of the event, and pre-registration is required. Don’t wait to reserve your spot.

- Lens(es) you'd like to use
- Tripod (strongly recommended for long exposures)
Having your camera with you will help you follow along during the presentation and get the most out of the hands-on practice session.
